Rick's art @ the Rove Hotel - DownTown
Born and bred in Dubai, Rove Hotels is a global lifestyle brand that brings smart, fuss free hospitality to the new generation of modern traveller and nomads who believe in exploring without borders. Earlier this year, the world leading brand selected Arkham Creative founder Tariq ‘Rick’ Sharif to create the Royal portraits for the main lobby of the Rove Downtown, Dubai.
The project proved to be a challenging opportunity for the Bahrain born artist, who is well-known for creating art pieces made purely with paper and a blade. Though a large undertaking, the talented artist created three 2 x 1.5 metre pieces of art that features the Ruling Family of the United Arab Emirates. Each piece consists of seven layers of laser cut acrylic sheets that are layered to form the portraits of the Royal Family and today, the artwork takes pride of place in the lobby of the Rove Downtown, Dubai.
Speaking of the project, Arkham Creative Founder Tariq ‘Rick’ Sharif said “What an honour and a privilege this project was. My artistic approach was challenged and tested as I usually work with paper and blades, whereas I completed this project with acrylic sheets. When the Rove Downtown approached me and requested something on a large scale, I knew I had to work with new materials. This led me to developing a new creative approach to achieve the vision that they wanted. I am truly proud of this achievement and thankful for this tremendous privilege,” he concluded.
